Elwin has extensive training in psychology, including the successful completion of a Doctor of Psychology (Clinical Psychology) qualification. He has practiced in both public settings, including hospitals, and currently works in private practice. Through his diverse experiences, Elwin has developed a passion for supporting mental health consumers in achieving their therapeutic goals. Prior to practicing psychology, he volunteered at the South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault (SECASA).
Elwin incorporates a range of evidence-based psychological interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He is currently undertaking advanced training in ISTDP. Elwin approaches therapy with empathy, hope, and a strong focus on building a positive therapeutic alliance with each client.
In addition to providing psychological therapy, Elwin conducts psychological assessments, including assessments for mental health conditions and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). He is committed to providing comprehensive assessments and personalised treatment recommendations to support each individual’s needs.
Alongside his clinical practice, Elwin enjoys conducting psychological research. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals on the topic of Internet Gaming Disorder and plans to continue his research on a casual basis.
