Dr. Dilshan N. Ariyarathna is a Consultant Geriatrician and Nephrologist specialising in general medicine. He graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2011 and completed his training at Bankstown/Lidcombe. His college training took place at St. Vincent’s Sydney Hospital. Dr. Ariyarathna pursued advanced training in Nephrology at the St. Vincent’s Network and later moved to Melbourne to undergo dual training in Geriatrics. During this time, he focused on providing clinical care to elderly patients and gained expertise in perioperative medicine by completing the Monash Perioperative Course.

Dilshan takes a holistic approach to patient management, addressing both the physical and mental aspects of aging. He is a strong advocate for the rights of the elderly and strives to support patients’ being at home. His areas of interest include perioperative medicine and the management of chronic conditions. He specializes in caring for complex patients with multiple organ diseases.

His specific interests encompass a wide range of areas, including:

  • Comprehensive geriatric assessments
  • Perioperative assessment of patients
  • Falls and balance assessment
  • Cognitive impairment and dementia testing and management
  • Management of chronic kidney disease, and the management of chronic conditions such as cardiovascular and respiratory conditions.

Dr. Ariyarathna is also available to conduct assessments at Residential Aged Care facilities in the south eastern area, including Narre Warren, Keysborough, and Clayton.
